International Curriculum at Johnson Grammar School, Kokapet
We at Johnson Grammar School, provide an international curriculum that focuses on conceptual learning. We currently admit students from the Nursery level to the Grade 5 level. The JGS framework ensures a solid foundation for our students that ultimately contributes to their overall development.
Primary Years Program (PYP)
The PYP develops caring and culturally aware children in the age group of 3 - 12 years old. They are encouraged to become active participants in their own learning. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) is a curriculum, a philosophy, and a methodology for young learners between Nursery and Grade 5. In IB PYP, emphasis is placed on trans-disciplinary and inquiry-based learning.
There are five essential elements to the IB PYP curriculum. These are Concepts, Skills, Knowledge, Attitudes and Action.
Concepts: What ideas do we want students to explore?
Skills: What do students need to succeed in a fast-paced world?
Knowledge: What significant and relevant subject matter do we want students to imbibe?
Attitudes: What fundamental values, feelings and beliefs do we want students to have?
Action: How do we want students to act/respond to personal and social issues?
In the IB PYP learning plan, learners strengthen their knowledge and skills across, beyond, and between subject areas guided by the six transdisciplinary themes of global significance:

It's been a great experience since my daughter started her schooling with JGS, starting with her 1st standard. She is now in VIth std, and my son is in 1st std. The key aspect I like the most is their focus on the child's holistic development.
